AT A GLANCE:Although  		Chester Carlson invented Xerography in 1938, it was twenty-one years  		later that the first office copier was available to the public. During  		the first eight months of production, Haloid (later renamed Xerox) sold  		more copiers then they expected to sell in the products entire life  		cycle.
